Why are murderers ever allowed to be released from prison, and do you feel once a killer always a killer?

Roxanne G asked:

And do you feel that rather wasting space for drug addicts it would be better to put them in drug rehabilitation programs rather than prison?
I consider a murderer and a killer two different things and I am saying murderer. Also I think that some small time criminals become worse because of the “training” they get in prison and that is why they keep coming back. They are actually becoming professional criminals.

Well not all murders are done premeditated but rather in self defense, how ever it think every case is different and that’s what needs to be looked at, as far as drug addicts well they do need some kind of rehabilitation but not all will follow through with an outside rehab that’s why most end up in prison and keep going back!!

there only serving the time they deserve hey u make mistakes to maybe they did something uber stupid like everyone does make the punishment fit the crime and people can change if we just left them in jail for rest of there life 1 prisons would be over filled and 2 the US goverment courts would not be fair for anything

What about second degree murder? Or vechicle manslaughter? Should they be locked up forever too? Has to be on a case by case basis. But generally yes I would agree with you on pre meditated first degree murder.

As far as Murder goes, I don’t know if you can be rehabilitated. It think in some case you can. The problem is that out Prison systems is too comfy for these thugs. They get 3 squares a day, no kids to feed, no they get to use the internet, yard & recreation, education, etc. It’s a bloody vacation. They get to see there hommies. I’m for hard labor camps like the one in Arizona. Tent City. It’s miserable. And it works. If they survive they survive. If they don’t, oh well.

The Prop 36 drug program that was instituted to California a couple of years back and has completely failed. I voted YES on it originally. However, it’s success rate is less that 7%. It’s a big joke and all the drug addicts I know, know it. And Prop 5 was on the ballot this month asking for more money for a program which doesn’t work. I voted NO this time. I’ve known too many meth heads that have worked the program and they all end up propping out [3 strikes, you are out] and going to jail anyway. Instead of spending almost 1 billion a year for a program that does not work, build another jail facility. It’s cheaper to the taxpayers.

I believe that in cases where someone intended to kill someone and did it, whether it was premeditated long before, or a day before, or a minute before, then that person will never be innocent of that crime. But I also believe in mercy, forgiveness, and the possibility that some could change ways and be truly remorseful. Not all would of course, and certainly not most murderers.

Personally, I am a Christian and I think murder in all forms is wrong. I am opposed to the death penalty. I would type a longer answer, and may return to edit this, but am incredibly tired and swamped in work…
