Are there programs for ex-offenders in texas once they are paroled and released from prison?

LaShone P asked:

Will recently be released from prison in about 6 months. Wants to know how the Texas Rehabilitation Commission, and Social Security can assist former inmates. Once they are released from prison, they have no money or means to survive. Are there any programs offered by the government to assist these inmates that want to help themselves?

The link below is to the Rehabilitation and Reentry Programs Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. You may want to contact them directly for more information on what kind programs they offer.
