Why can’t I stop using drugs on my own?
poppadiehard asked:
I got into some trouble and put on probation (the charge wasn’t drug related) and my p.o. does urine screens on me, which i failed for weed. Now he’s making me go to a drug rehabilitation program for 9 months that I have to complete or face the remaining time I have on probation in jail. I can quit smoking on my own and dont need group therapy for three hours a day, four days a week for nine months! I’ve made this perfectly clear with the counselor and he says I’m in denial….that someone in denial needs it even more!! HA! B.S. I say….what do you think?

probably because you are addicted!
get some help! try rehab.
MJ is not physically addictive. I still bet you will not stop on your own.
Since you already admit that you can’t stop using drugs on your own, you sound like you are not in denial as much as you are in need of friends who will help you — and a Drug Rehab program would IMHO be much more helpful and friendlier than jail would be.
Go into rehab with the idea that you will be a friend and will make friends.
Do this now or you will have much more to concern yourself with later on down the road.
They Tryed To Make Me Go To Rehab, But I Said No,No.No,
I think once you failed your urine test, you used up your last chance for freedom according to the authorities. You might as well face the music and complete your group therapy, although I don’t know which is worse, group therapy or jail. Personally, I think weed should be legal, but it’s not. Keep on trying to convince your p.o. to give you another chance. Tell him you can now pass a urine test and would like to be let off the hook. Tell him you were at a birthday party and the weed was just a one time thing. Good Luck!
Irregardless of whether you think its necessary to go for treatment, this is a consequence of your behavior, which was a parole violation. Whether or not you think it should be, MJ use is currently illegal. Its not the parole officer or counselor who made this law. As far as denial- you may or may not have a drug problem, but you are responsible for your behavior either way.
Maybe you are in denial!
Addiction IS a disease. Wether its pot, crack, meth, alcohol, pills, whatever - they all come with a different degree of addiction. Pot, in my opinion, is the drug with the least degree of abuse and addiction, but nonetheless, it is addictive and probably requires the lesser degree of treatment.
Denail IS a sympton of addiction and until you accept the fact that you are an addict, you’ll never be able to move forward.
The way I see it…you have two choices:
1. - Do as your told….go to your group therapy! Keep an open mind and try to learn something. You just might find your po did you a life saving favor and you might find a better way to live. Think about how much money your saving or will save over the next few months!
or -
2. - Go to jail….stay angry and in denial and be a potheat the rest of your life.
Your being given a second chance! Not everyone is afforded such an oppurtunity! And it just might save you life in the long run.
Good luck to you….I hope it turns out well!
